I am proud to say that I graduated from this program with a deeper understanding of the Digital Advertising industry, that I'm sure will take my life, my career, and my whole self, to the next level.
Why did you take this digital advertising course?

I had been wracking my brain about how I was going to find a way to educate myself in the Digital Advertising/Marketing space, from real life, down to earth experts, without having to sacrifice my entire life’s savings to do it. I know I have a real talent and brain for marketing, advertising, and many other creative things– and wanted to fine tune my skills— I knew this iDiverse/BMCC collaboration could help me do this.

What did you like the most in the program?

Our instructor, Ben Reid, really made magic happen each and every class. He made learning easy in this course and I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. A lot of us have been in learning environments where it was easy to feel overlooked and unimportant, and Ben made sure that none of us ever felt that way. That really meant a lot to me.

Now that you graduated, what are your hopes and next step(s) in your career?

I feel well equipped and immensely motivated to initiate my career change! My job search is for an entry level role at a mid-size or major Advertising, Marketing, or Creative agency. I am absolutely thrilled to have been provided such a special opportunity to be a better version of myself, and use this experience to catapult me to success in my professional endeavors.

Why did you take this digital advertising course?

I took this digital advertising course to make a change in my career. The advertising world has a lot of similarities to the tech world, and I.T is something for which I have a passion. The course was very interesting and I have learned a great deal.

What did you like the most in the program?

I very much enjoyed the soft-skills classes, as well as that we have had so much material at our fingertips. It was a huge pot of knowledge.

Now that you graduated, what are your hopes and next step(s) in your career?

Now that I’ve graduated I want to make a career in the digital advertising field. New York is a very competitive market. It will be hard, but I’m hopeful.

I wanted to evolve my previous experience in digital recruiting by participating in the iDiverse program. I was interested in learning how to optimize consumer interest, and using data analysis to maximize campaign profits through consumer demand.

What did you like the most in the program?

Developing career soft skills, and meeting industry guest speakers. Sarah Allende, Employment Specialist at BMCC’s Continuing Education, was pivotal in IAB’s soft-skills class, where I learned how to fine-tune my LinkedIn profile and resume, as well as my cover letter to speak to my interest in digital media and advertising.

Now that you graduated, what are your hopes and next step(s) in your career?

I am looking to amplify my digital recruiting skills to increase diversity in people operations.

I wanted to fully understand the life of a digital campaign and this class gave me the opportunity to see that.
Why did you take this digital advertising course?

As someone who works in Ad Ops, I was very interested in getting the certification that this class offers, and also, you don’t know what you don’t know– I thought that taking this course would help me become better at my job.

What did you like the most in the program?

I like that I really got to see what it is like for Ad Ops on the publishers’ side. I wanted to fully understand the life of a digital campaign and this class gave me the opportunity to see what happens before a campaign reaches Agency Ad Ops and also what happens after it leaves Agency Ad Ops hands.

Now that you graduated, what are your hopes and next step(s) in your career?

Right now I’m looking into becoming certified for HTML5, CSS, Java, JQuery, and SQL. I want to see what I can do with Ad Ops + Coding.

The ability to gain firsthand knowledge of evolving best practices and guidelines in digital marketing was very important to me.
Why did you take this digital advertising course?

I was looking for a course that would let me gain the necessary skills to transition my career into digital marketing. Already familiar with certain marketing functions such as trafficking and production, I was hoping to gain more insight into the roles and responsibilities involved, such as campaign monitoring, troubleshooting and reporting.

What did you like the most in the program?

Among the many things I liked was the level of support I received from everyone throughout the program.  It was wonderful too to experience the passion for the industry that both the instructor and the guest speakers demonstrated.

Now that you graduated, what are your hopes and next step(s) in your career?

I hope to obtain a digital marketing position that will enable me to utilize what I’ve learned so far in this course, as well as to keep learning and progressing. I’m excited that there is so much more to learn in an industry that is continually evolving.

I wanted to learn more about the digital advertising industry. I always enjoyed a fast-paced environment and the various skills set that came with ad operations. Digital advertising is innovative and always evolving and it was great to understand a lot more about data analytics and ad ops as a whole.

What did you like the most in the program?

I enjoyed the guest speakers who were able to give us a great view into their work routine, and how it is to actually work in ad operations. There are many duties when it comes to being on an ad ops team, so being able to get advice and see a few examples of managing online ads as well as reporting and tracking the performance of online campaigns was very helpful.

Now that you graduated, what are your hopes and next step(s) in your career?

I want to continue learning and developing the skills used in the industry. I also want to be on top of the new technology that will enable me to sell, serve and report on the performance of ads.

Why did you take this digital advertising course?

As a business management major with a focus on marketing, I always want to explore new ways on how to reach people. I found it very interesting how advertisers can track and market their audience digitally are able to gather so much information through the use of technology.

What did you like the most in the program?

My favorite part of the program was definitely getting to hear the guest speakers! I thought it was so interesting to hear what’s like to be actually in the field; hearing how they managed daily tasks made learning about the digital ecosystem exciting.

Now that I graduated from the program, I hope to expand my knowledge in the digital advertising world. My goal is to learn as much as I can about the field, and connect with those in it.

Realizing the full scope and power of the digital advertising universe through this class was exciting.
Why did you take this digital advertising course?

Hoping to better understand the changing advertising landscape and the consumer, I signed up for the class.

What did you like the most in the program?

What I liked most about the class was that the concepts of the class were broken down and backed up by videos and articles of real life examples that made it easier to understand. The guest speakers from CBS and Pandora gave us not just an analytical view of the business but also an exciting peek into using data to create accurate customer profiles.

Now that you graduated, what are your hopes and next step(s) in your career?

I hope to leverage this class into an ad ops career in the beauty industry. My experience in retail and as an avid beauty consumer gives me invaluable insight but IAB has given me the skill set to begin that journey.

I wanted a role in the media and or technology sector that encompassed a form of marketing. The digital advertising course provided with this knowledge and overview of the digital space.

What did you like the most in the program?

The live class structure created an environment where we could ask questions not only about the material but also share our thoughts on what we knew about the industry. It was great to see that I was able to apply my learnings directly to my current role.

Now that you graduated, what are your hopes and next step(s) in your career?

During the course I was able to obtain a position in the media/tech industry at an audience measurement company. Currently I measure the social media value of campaigns. Eventually, I would like to end up in a management role in the advertising/technology industry.

I started out wanting to learn skills I could use to translate to my community in Business education. What did you like the most in the program?

What I liked most about the program was the visitors from Pandora. They shared a “day in the life” experience with the class. I really gained a new perspective on the concepts we have been learning in class.

Currently, I am in school at BMCC full-time during the daytime. I also am running my business part-time. I would like to gain further exposure into the digital advertising process to really hone my skills in this field.

What I liked most about the program were the guest speakers delving into their own experiences, sharing professional advice, and also highlighting reading material I had read from the course. The quizzes and exams were also very helpful in enhancing my test taking skills and helped keep the material fresh in my memory.

Why did you take this digital advertising course?

I developed a curiosity and interest in new technologies at my last company. When I heard about the digital advertising course through the career services at Skyline College, I was open and receptive to explore the course.

What did you like the most in the program?

I enjoyed learning about the technical and analytical side of digital media advertising. For example, I found programmatic buying and selling to be a very interesting component to learn about.

Now that you graduated, what are your hopes and next step(s) in your career?

I hope to get my feet wet in an entry level position and learn the trade, work my way up, and maybe be part of the team that helps bring in more automation in programmatic buying and selling.

I have gotten the opportunity to learn about an industry new to me, and things have really started to click.
Why did you take this digital advertising course?

I thought that the class could be a way for me to enter the tech industry. My past studies in Economics and Sociology focused on how societal norms influenced consumerism. By learning digital advertising, I could market myself as someone with knowledge in advertising operations, who could also analyze data and develop strategies for better ads.

What did you like the most in the program?

I am attracted to the technical nature of digital advertising work, coupled with the extensive people-interfacing. I felt this course had the potential to permit students to break into organizations that would not be possible otherwise.

What did you like the most in the program?

The plethora of information on ad operations, campaigns, work flows, advertising technologies, etc.; I enjoy learning new information and applying it to solve problems. Also, the camaraderie shared among students in the program was enlivening.

The class has provided information that will enable me to contribute to digital advertising operations. I would like to work for a publisher or agency in a role that has an internal and/or external customer facing aspect, as well as technical and data analysis components.

I was involved in global business marketing for 7 years and enjoyed the teamwork with vendors, contractors, and businesses owners. With technology changing the world at such a fast pace, I felt it was time to upgrade my capabilities in the digital marketing world, in order to have a shining future.

What did you like the most in the program?

I’ve learned so much about ad campaigns and ad ops solutions for challenges that may arise when monitoring live campaigns. I also enjoyed meeting and learning from professionals within the industry. It’s paramount to be collaborative as a team player, it is all about people.

Why did you take this digital advertising course?

To gain knowledge in advertising that would complement my degree in Media and Cultural Studies.

What did you like the most in the program?

I gained more insight about the backend of advertising, including ad operations, trafficking, and publishing. I enjoyed the guest speakers as well, and the insight they provided about relevant professional tools.

Now that you graduated, what are your hopes and next step(s) in your career?

I have always had strong mathematical skills and I have been looking for career fields where I can use those skills, as well as my technological and artistic skills. I don’t want to compromise one of my skills for another. I want to get into animation because I believe I would be able to use all of these capabilities.

Like a lot of people, I have encountered challenges, but I always try to find ‘ways and means’ to complement my ‘hopes and dreams.’
Why did you take this digital advertising course?

I had deep interest in Internet advertising but no connections and no clear path into the industry. Certification by the IAB was restricted to insiders, and felt I had no way inside. So when I saw that this program was offered, I made sure to apply.

What did you like the most in the program?

The opportunity to gain deep knowledge of the industry from the class, and to meet new and motivated people, also heading toward my future industry.

Now that you graduated, what are your hopes and next step(s) in your career?

I hope to work in operations, as a trafficker, and am also interested in being an analyst. From there, I would like to work my way up to becoming a data scientist at a firm in the digital advertising industry. My long-term goal is to have my own firm in the digital adverting sector, specifically in the research / big data support and management area.

I enjoy cultural diversity and applaud the IAB for taking bold steps to make it happen in the industry. I am also an older worker. It has been disheartening to see I am judged by my physical appearance (older) before my worth as an employee is considered.
Why did you take this digital advertising course?

Digital advertising has fascinated me since I opened my ecommerce stores in 2008. I had no idea how big and how sophisticated the digital advertising world had become. I learned in class that the industry is truly global.

What did you like the most in the program?

I am learning updated skills and technology as well as developing a deeper understanding of the subject matter. I have enjoyed the class lessons most and the soft skills instructors have been top notch.

Now that you graduated, what are your hopes and next step(s) in your career?

I am very excited that I can use my websites as ‘guinea pigs’ for the digital advertising technologies I am learning and will be practicing. I plan to continue my education in applicable technologies. What an opportunity!

The chance to learn about a new industry and acquire new skills that could make me a better candidate for employment appealed to me immediately.

What did you like the most in the program?

The Digital Advertising program has proven to be more than I could have hoped for, on several levels. It was rigorous and I learned an entirely new industry with new nomenclature, structure, skills, and a new way of doing business to what I have experienced before. I have enjoyed it immensely.

I am hoping to pair the knowledge I have acquired in the class with my past experience, and get a managerial position. Fortunately, at this time in my life, my wife and I are in a position to take advantage of new opportunities and new challenges.

What did you like the most in the program?

Gaining an understanding of ad ops tasks being done in an ideal way. I enjoyed the professors, the soft skills classes, and having employees from ad ops positions speak to the class about their experiences. The networking was great, too.

When I first saw the IAB digital advertising program at the College of San Mateo was being offered, I jumped on the opportunity, and I’m glad I’ve had the chance to dig in and learn something new.
Why did you take this digital advertising course?

Digital Media covers a wide array of topics and I like the variety. The talent within digital media such as news, fashion, art, and other essentials has motivated me to become involved in an area with so many new insights.

What did you like the most in the program?

Learning about the flow of how advertising paths are defined and scheduled with the item lists and the speed at which it goes live. I also enjoyed that the class answers questions about why browsers behave the way they do – it was very interesting.

Now that you graduated, what are your hopes and next step(s) in your career?

I hope to work in an ad trafficker’s position and stay current with high tech industry changes.  Advertising and/or marketing are innovative fields and I realize how much I like the subject content. This program has opened a new door for me.
